Sports and Fitness Indexing Special Interest Group
The Sportsand Fitness Indexing Special Interest Group (SIG) of the American Society for Indexing (ASI) has been formed to serve as a network for indexers who work in the areas of sports, fitness, and related materials. The SIG serves several functions, including education and networking. Through meetings, publications, and Internet resources, the SIG offers its members a forum for education, an opportunity to discuss and solve problems that occur in indexing these materials, as well as a chance to learn about potential indexing opportunities by communicating with each other through an e-mail discussion list.
The California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the American Medical Association are working together to encourage physicians to prescribe exercise to patients who would benefit from increased levels of Sports and physical activity.

Sports & Fitness For Soldiers
The Wounded Warrior Sports Program is a goal-oriented sports program for disabled Soldiers who remain on active duty. Soldiers selected to participate will be sent TDY & return to compete at state and national-level sporting events for physically disabled athletes. Funding will be provided by the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command. Selection standards will be set at the beginner/intermediate level in coordination with the U.S. Paralympic Committee.
